Willimantic Waste Educates Local Business Members on the Benefits of Single Stream Recycling
On Tuesday, May 4, Eric Baribeau of Willimantic Waste spoke at the Colchester Business Association (CBA) monthly dinner meeting at Papa Z's Restaurant. He spoke about the time-saving benefits of "going green" with single stream recycling, which allows both residential and commercial recyclers to place all recyclables into one bin, regardless of material. Many businesses are moving toward this trend, as new markets open up for the waste stream by-products. A Single Stream system helps the economy and environment by making it easier to reuse and recycle rather than discarding items solely as waste. Willimantic Waste has a state-of-the-art Bollegraaf single stream recycling system that can separate over 25 tons per hour.
Attendees were local business members and CBA members. There was a question and answer period.
“We appreciate Willimantic Waste's efforts in educating the local business community about easier ways to recycle,” said Jack Faski, CBA President and Owner Broker of Skyview Realty. “Increased participation in recycling benefits our entire community and helps to make a greener world.”
This meeting was one of the many the association holds to help promote, support and encourage business development in Colchester. The CBA motto is- Shop Colchester First! Monthly dinner meetings are held the first Tuesday evening of each month for members to network, learn about business and community topics and enhance their skills. Meetings are always open to those interested in becoming members and to learn more about the association. They produce the Business Showcase, Scarecrow Contest, Tag Sale on the Green and other events. They participate in Santa’s Anonymous and the 57 Fest.
